We call ourselves
"Ambassadors of Himalayas"?
At Lhayul Explorers, our identity extends beyond the conventional concept of a 'work team.' We're not solely devoted to marketing treks or bound by the typical 9-5 schedule; we're more than that. We prefer to identify as "Ambassadors of Himalayas" — an emblem of honor we carry with deep-seated pride and responsibility, transcending mere decorative labels or professional titles.

"Ambassadors of Himalayas"?
What does that mean?
We as a company don't desire to blend into the crowd of countless trekking companies in Nepal running endless trips and packages; instead, we aspire to stand out, embodying the spirit of true entrepreneurship in our country. But what does that mean?
To us, real entrepreneurship in today's world goes beyond mere profit-making. It embodies the courage to shoulder the legacy of our homeland, to cherish it, to enhance it, and to pass it on to the succeeding generation in an equally cherished or even more enriched state than how it was graciously given to us by our forebears.
In the accelerating world of global modernization, Nepal remains a cherished gem that has steadfastly preserved its unique identity and authenticity. We embrace modern conveniences but refuse to let them dilute our cultural heritage.

With us, you may savor the decadent comfort of a hot chocolate lava cake at a German bakery in Khumbu, but not without an immersive dip into the heart of traditional Sherpa cuisine. With Lhayul Explorers, mountains aren't merely a backdrop for an Instagram moment. It becomes a spiritual sanctuary for meditation under the watchful gaze of our sky goddess. While most trekkers return with only photographic memories, we endeavor to provide you with an intimate understanding of our roots and identity. We firmly believe that forgetting our roots means losing our identity.

Therefore, as "Ambassadors of Himalayas," we commit to guiding you through an unforgettable, authentic, humble, and deeply spiritual journey that reflects the true soul of our mountains, transforming it from just another trekking destination into a life-altering experience.

Now that you've understood our ethos, it's time to introduce you to our exceptional founder members!
CHADANI LAMA SHERPA
Founder Director
Born under the gaze of Everest, Chadani is a figure of fierce determination. An entrepreneur, professional trekking guide, and media technologist, Chadani has challenged the status quo, blazing a trail that resonates with her passion for the wilderness, her commitment to equality, and social justice.

Raised in Kathmandu, Chadani's heart echoed with the call of her roots, drawing her to the majestic landscapes of Everest. Her journey as a solo female trekker in Nepal started from a place of personal healing, leading her on solitary treks across the rugged terrains of Nepal. It was during one such deeply powerful solo trek, that she unearthed the inspiration for her venture, Lhayul Explorers.

Throughout her journeys, Chadani witnessed the harsh reality faced by the hardworking ground-level workers. She saw the injustice in their wages and the merciless exploitation they faced at the hands of profit-driven trekking companies. She also noted the skewed gender representation in the industry, the prejudiced views towards female trekkers and guides, and the stark absence of women in positions of power. Yet, what struck her most was the ignorance in the trekkers, the race to conquer our mountains without understanding its true essence, many who returned with mere photographs, barely scratching the surface of what the mountain stands for. She realized that they were not to blame. Their understanding was raw and basic; it was the Nepali guides and companies who failed to dive deeper, to share the profound stories, the rich culture, the historical significance, and the spiritual aura that our mountains embodied. Chadani knew she had to change this narrative.

After years of research, and countless hours spent in search of like-minded individuals who shared her vision, Chadani laid the foundation for Lhayul Explorers. Built upon her core values, Lhayul Explorers was her response to the industry's shortcomings. Her venture not only aims to employ 50 percent of women but also promote fair wages, ensuring the workers are treated with the respect and dignity they deserved.

Her vision extends beyond generating trekkers; it is to cultivate a generation that moves past the notion of 'conquering mountains', inspiring them instead to 'honor the mountains'. This shift in perspective reflects her unwavering commitment to respect for the natural world, and social justice acting as a guiding light for women trekkers globally.
PASANG GYALJEN SHERPA
Co-Founder | Trekking Group Leader Coordinator
Pasang Gyaljen Sherpa, the co-founder of Lhayul Explorers and our esteemed trekking group leader, is the embodiment of our core values. He is an extraordinary testament to our commitment to respect, warmth, and sincerity.

Born and raised in the breathtaking beauty of the Khumbu region, Pasang's connection with mountains transcends the commonplace. His family hails from Lukla, where they have managed a successful hotel and lodge business for many years. His lineage is steeped in serving the sacred Everest, guiding seekers and travelers on their quest for the mountain's wonders.

His family, like most others in the Khumbu region, has always been immersed in the world of trekking. But there's something unique about Pasang - his extraordinary humility and compassion set him apart. Pasang has consistently advocated for fair compensation for ground-level workers, standing against companies that fail to meet industry standards. His concern extends beyond personal gain; he often encourages trekkers to tip the hardworking porters, compensating for any inequity in their salary.
Pasang's role as a guide and group leader is much more than a job to him; it's a calling. He's renowned for his unwavering dedication to everyone he encounters on the trek, ready to defy norms and go the extra mile to provide an unparalleled experience. A rebel with a purpose in an industry marked by disparities, Pasang leads with his heart.

Pasang's relationship with mountains is unique; it is his birthplace and his playground. He introduces trekkers to the mountain as a son would introduce guests to his mother. His strong spiritual bond with the mountain, revered as a mother goddess, is an integral part of his life and work.

Pasang's 15 years of experience in this field add to his expertise, but his genuine care for his clients is what truly sets him apart. He's known for guiding many elder individuals and those with health issues to Everest Base Camp. His extensive knowledge of mountain sickness and his immediate, effective responses have made him a trusted guide.

In a society where gender inequality persists, Pasang embodies what it means to be a feminist man. He ardently champions women's participation in the industry, believing that no one can understand the mother mountain better than those who share the divine gift of motherhood.

In a nutshell, Pasang Gyaljen Sherpa isn't just a guide, group leader, or co-founder; he's a visionary, an advocate, a friend, and most importantly, a compassionate human being dedicated to enhancing the Everest experience for every trekker he encounters.
